Students and staff at Thornleigh Sixth Form are celebrating following another historic set of A-Level and Vocational results, surpassing last year’s record-breaking performance and securing an exceptional positive value-added score.
Building on the college’s best-ever academic performance last year, the Class of 2026 has set a new benchmark for excellence. The results reflect not only high academic achievement across subject areas, but also the outstanding progress made by students of all abilities during their time in the Sixth Form.
This year’s cohort are moving on to a variety of prestigious destinations across the country ranging from top universities to competitive higher apprenticeships and employment.
Among the many individual success stories celebrated are:
Luke, who is heading to Lancaster University to study Nuclear Engineering.
Sophie, who has secured a place at the University of Edinburgh to read English Literature and Language.
Neha, who will be studying Optometry at the University of Manchester.
Molly, who is progressing to the University of Liverpool to study Physiotherapy.
Lily, who is set to study Multimedia Journalism at the University of Salford.

Other confirmed degree destinations include International Management at the University of Liverpool, Economics at Manchester Metropolitan University, Optometry at the University of Bradford, and Sports Business Management as well as Business Management & Finance at Leeds Beckett University.
Reflecting on the results, Headteacher Mr Fitzsimons expressed immense pride in the achievements of the students and paid tribute to the leadership and staff team:
"We are delighted to celebrate another outstanding year for our Sixth Form. Building on last year's best-ever A-level results, this year we have exceeded those achievements even further and delivered an excellent positive value-added score.
